Macbeth Callback Information

Dear Auditioners,

Thank you for taking the time to share your audition with us over the past two days. We have had an incredible showing of talent coming out for Macbeth and I’m thrilled to get started working with all of you. Below you’ll find the callback information.

Before you scan the list, please be reminded that not getting a callback does NOT mean you didn’t make it into the show. All a callback means is that we needed to see a little bit more from you. Alternatively, getting a callback does not mean you are automatically in the show. Remember, we’re still auditioning. Whether you did or didn’t get a callback, please make sure we are remaining respectful and encouraging towards all of our fellow students. Congratulate each other, cheer each other on, and encourage each other. Be the best ensemble you can.

Thank you again for auditioning. Should you have any questions - please reach out.

With respect and excitement,

Mr. Schaffer

Callback Material

One of the biggest things we’re looking for is ACTING and storytelling! Learn the text, who is your character and what do they want. Yes, you can read from a page of text - but can you tell a convincing story? I am looking for performers who are confident in telling a story.

A note about the language in the play: Shakespearean language is not read in a metered (dum-de-dum-de-dum) manner. Try to use the modern translations of the text to inform your emotional choices and inflection. Pause where punctuation indicates it, not at the ends of lines.

For callbacks, character connection is KEY! Make sure you’re familiar enough with the text to truthfully tell the story and make meaningful connections.

Cast List:

To ensure a safe and comfortable audition environment, results will be shared individually by email.

Each email will include:  Casting decisions, Mini feedback from your audition, and Next steps (if any). You will receive your email no later than Sunday night, September 7.  Please do not email or message me asking about the cast list — I promise I’m working on it! Writing personalized emails takes time, and I want to give everyone thoughtful feedback. An official cast list will be posted only after all actors have confirmed their participation and roles. Please do not discuss casting with others until the official list is posted. Everyone experiences different emotions during casting season, and it’s important we respect each other’s process.
